First day at the Salone

A few nuggets after my first day in Milan for the Salone del Mobile. As each year, the words that come to my mind are "Why do i bother coming here?" I guess the answer might be something lame like "I just can't help it."

But hey, see by yourself:

BDAP (aka Kei Saito) was showing this awesome Buddha designed for Tokyo, a "strange city defended by Buddhism and Shintoism".

Everyone's favorite at the show seems to be the gigantic Pinocchio that Jaime Hayon did for Bisazza. He's also showing the works he did for Artquitect, bd & metalarte at the J'aime exhibition in the Tortona area.

Three Clay Big Fans, a clay composite hand-modelled by Maarten Baas around basic metal structures and tortilla or onion omelette sponsored by a fashion brand, one of the works from Marti Guixe's Food Furniture series (a research process that envisions food as an edible designed product).

Marcel Wanders went megalo in his solo show with huge bells (euh?!) and very tall lamps called Calvin.
