Three architects and urbanists from modulorbeat have used some 160 conventional 1000-litre water tanks to build a temporary open air night club called Kubik.

The plastic tanks are filled with luminous bulbs so that VJs can turn the whole structure into visual games. The electric bulbs are individually controllable and the walls of tanks can be used just like an oversized low-tech screen.

Kubik is at Köpenicker Straße 36 in Berlin-Kreuzberg -- Videos -- deepchild has a flickr set.

Yes!! you can! with the help of a crane and cubes with other colors... of course, a excelent insurance company helps a bit just in case of a game over =D

Sounds very cool but at same time kind of scary. What happens when some crazy drunk person decides it would be funny to take a knife or even a small drill and make a hole into one of the bottom water containers? I would think the hole structure or at least all the water blocks on top would end up tipping over... I can't imagine how heavy 1000 liters is and how much it would hurt falling from several feet above your head.

Very cool idea though, I like the general idea, just safety I could see being a major issue.

@Mike

who says the cubes are still full of water ? They are just using the containers and frankly i think fitting them all out with lights and an electric system would have been chalenging at least when they're filled up

@Mike

you can relax...the containers are empty and its absolutely safe...thanks to german safety instructions...and i can confirm: it's amazing in it...greetings
