Like a beautiful nightmare

Norwegian artist Børre Sæthre's clean universe is slightly disturbing. His elegant Space Odyssey-like scenography are inhabited by unlikely creatures: a dead Roe Dee, menacing crows, lusty rabbits or a staring white Unicorn.

I have to be honest, it looks like Matthew Barney to me, in my humble opinion.
Thanx.
This is great stuff! Do you have a website that features more of this avant-garde photography?
The gallery of Borre saetre recently went bankrupt, they tossed out all the great artists and kept the commercial ones. They even sent him a mega bill.
Mathew Barney is alot more complex and vast, yes there are alot of similar elements, Saetre earlier work comprised mainly of making "Transit" spaces, such as 20001 Space Odessey middle space station. He is one of Norways main great artists along with Ole joergen Ness.
I'm not sure about "Norways main great artists", but he is certainly good and is one of the most successful younger artists coming out of Norway right now. Barney would seem a likely influence, but Sæthre's work still stands up on its own, I think.
By the way, the works are not photography, they are big installations.
Started finding out about Børre Sæthre after reading a fascinating article in this month's Wound Magazine about his installation "for someone who nearly died but survived" in Bergen Kunsthall. It sounds amazing...
Sorry my link doesn't seem to work any more. But you can get to Wound Magazine's website by going to http://www.woundmagazine.com
