Power Plant is a plant-like lamp developed by interactive media students Carl Emil Carlsen and Ole Prinds.

This light installation has struck roots in a dark corner and feeds on sunlight. The light coming from a nearby doorway hits the floor slows down and floats seeking the bare roots. When the door is opened and light rushes in the lamp-plant lights up as a welcoming gesture.

The system used Processing and connects to a physical interface called a Wiring-board. A bend-sensor connected to the Wiring-board was attached to the backside of the door measuring the door-angle.

The Processing program then fired light particles according the angle and reported to the Wiring-board when a particle hit the Power Plant. The program on the Wiring-board controlled a physical light dimmer module causing the light to blink. The particle movement was achieved using object oriented programming and simple physical forces.
