Seen yesterday at the Salone Satellite in Milan:

Hajime Kakihana designed for Ototo (by Toto, makers of the famous toilets) a shower head called Heavenly Rain.

You attach it to the water supply and it turns the liquid into a fog that floats like a cloud above your head then rains over you.

How does that work? The cloud looks like cotton wool up close. Is it real?

i wish i could add how it works. the woman at the booth said i'd find details on their website but there isn't much. it is real fog.

I've got an air humidifier for my kids that produces a big fog when pushed to the limit. It's ultrasound based and the effect could be quite close to that described. I've seen a few feng shui fountains based on the same system in my local science shop.

I reckon it doesn't actually rain on you but through the cloud... Now, on the flickr photo, I'm amazed at the texture effect on the clouds... Could that be a lighting effect ?

100%

It probably works the same as those small Fog machines you find in flower / plant companies as decor for quitch fountains. It electifies the water causing it to segment.
Great idea
