The owl that takes control over innocent devices
|
Bubo is a toy owl that can cast spells and take control over innocent devices or other toys in its surroundings. Bubo takes control of TV, computer, printers and other appliances by constantly sniffing for IR transmission, intercepting and learning infrared commands from remote controls to their devices and acquiring their functionalities.
In his spell book, Bubo carries three default spells that control a magic ball accompanying the owl. The child can help Bubo expanding its spell collection by exposing the toy to different infrared transmissions. To secure the newly learned spell, the child has to cast the spell for the first time within a time limit; otherwise Bubo will not remember the new spell. When two owls meet, they can engage in a wizardry battle for superiority. Prototype developed by Oren Horev and Chai-Ying Lee. |
