Future Flatpack Classics
|
When i first saw the furniture at the Salone del Mobile in April, i thought it was such a refreshing contrast with the glamour and sometimes shallowness of the Salone.
Diego Bello, Lea Lagasse and Tom Gray's gradutation project at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design adapts the "classics" of 20th Century furniture (Eames, Le Corbusier, Mies, Rietveld, Wanders, etc.) for those who cannot afford to buy the authentic pieces. The original designs were roughly rendered in an illustrative style on laminated 2D surfaces. The work achieve, as the designers said, a kind of "perfection in mediocrity." |
