Pray as you go
|
Praystation, by Glasgow art student Douglas Maitland, is a project that addresses declining church attendance in the year 2018. It offers "Fast Faith" in the shape of a booth, where an e-priest plays the part of a conscience.
The high-street Praystation is a sound proof cubicle located in shopping malls, train stations, airports, strip clubs, offices... You can enter it with your iCross, which stores your soul, recording your life and sins, emotions, problems, health, etc. These are uploaded to the e-priest, who advises and downloads absolution and forgiveness. It also functions as a "soul meter", its colour reflecting the state of a soul from pure white to a sinful black. The e-priest is a cognitive artificial intelligence that will learn and evolve the more you visit it, building up a profile. Picture BBC News.
