Jolting physical experience
|
The Do Not Touch installation by Christian Moeller for the Science Museum in London, is a five meter tall stainless steel pole with electricity running through it and standing in the center of a rubber warning sign telling the visitor "do not touch".
Installed in the "Energy Fuelling the Future" gallery, it is aimed to provide a physical experience of energy. Of course the sign tempts the visitor to do precisely what he is warned not to do. If you ignore the warning sound triggered by your approach and touch the pole, you get a mild electric shock amplified by sound. Another of Moeller's installations, "Heaven", is exhibited till March 12 at the Telic gallery in Los Angeles. |
