Toyota launches robot workforce
|
As a first step to reach its objective to be the first in the automobile industry to use advanced robots in all production processes, Toyota Motor will introduce robots at all its Japanese factories to cut costs and deal with a looming labor shortage (birthrate is declining and Japan rejects calls to open up to unskilled immigrants, fearing the effects on the country's social framework.)
The robots would be able to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously with their two arms, achieving efficiency unseen in human workers and matching the cheap wages of Chinese laborers. They would work at tasks that were too complex for conventional robots up to now, such as installing seats and fixing car interior. Via Robotics < News.com.au. |
