Solar Underwater Robots

A collaborative group of researchers is working to develop a network of sensing devices and water-monitoring robots, including solar-powered autonomous underwater vehicles (SAUVs). The network would be used to detect chemical and biological trends and ultimately guide the management of water quality.

With SAUVs technology, underwater robots can to be deployed long-term by using solar power, without having to take them out of the water frequently to recharge the batteries.
