Ten years ago the first e-commerce sale was made. A company called NetMarket sold a Sting CD, "Ten Summoner's Tales" to a Swarthmore student for $12.48, plus shipping costs.

Daniel Kohn, founder of NetMarket, told CNET that the online sale got him airtime on National Public Radio and CNBC. "At the time, it was a huge deal. It was our 15 minutes of fame."
