Put Bluetooth in your tyres

Not new, but I had never heard of it before... Nokian Tyres has developed the RoadSnoop Safety System which monitors tyre pressure on your behalf. If the pressure of one or more tyres changes while you are driving, an alarm is immediately sounded on your mobile phone. Small sensors are placed on the wheels, the communication takes place through Bluetooth, and a battery lasts five years.
