Mute rave party in Venice
|
The Venice Municipality had to find a solution that would make happy both young people in need of nocture fun and families/tourists in need of sleep, so they created the Mutus Party. All you need for a mutus party is a system similar to the one used for simultaneous translations, a heap of multi-channel headphones and 4 djs playing different kinds of music, pop, revival, techno or world so that dancers can choose the one they prefer.

I've heard of this idea many times with different variations, but I think there's a reason why it's never taken off.
After all, what's a rave without the bassline?
you are right. no bassline, but it is quite exiting to think about near scenarios
Go to the rave, take your headphone, choose your Dj and enjoy. Imagine 30 Djs playing simultaneusly. And you can switch whenever you want.
Call me old-fashioned, but aren't parties about people getting together in one place to share the experience of hearing music. If the bloke next to you is dancing to 180bpm happy hardcore, and you're tuned into the world music DJ, there's not going to be much in the way of communal enjoyment. Or, indeed, fun.
I was here.
It was a very nice experience.
do you have any pic of the party?
Yes I put them tomorrow !!
:)
wow!
was it difficult to join with other people?
Hi, I'm one of the guys of attualAmente, the group that organized the Mutus Party in Venice... It's really amazing to have people we don't know talking about something we did. This is one more demonstration that journalists are like sheep: one starts and the others go beyond! But it's great to be communicating with you now.
When we started the Mutus Party, three years ago, we didn't take it so seriously. It was just a sort of funny joke to say that in Venice you couldn't have fun after 11pm: in many cities you have this problem but here it's bigger! On the other hand we considered it an experimentation about human relationships as well: "What if...?" Well, the result is something very weird, and I suppose that I prefer a real Rave Party (even if I don't konw what a bassline is), or a real dancing-togeter-situation. But anyway I think we got one of our aims, we launched this provocation about Venice and tried to say that nothing can stop creativity and the will to be alive, moving, dancing, till dawn. With headphones or without.
Bye to everybody, I hope that this discussion is going to continue.
I just noticed today there was so many comments about that post. Great!
Maybe Edoardo, you'd pleased to know that the Spanish press has heard about it too, have a look at http://www.noticiasdot.com/publicaciones/2004/0704/2704/noticias270704/noticias270704-16.htm
