Telecom Italia is launching video calling from fixed network phones

Italian subscribers of the phone operator can now buy or rent a videophone featuring a camera and SMS capabilities and by the end of the year the handsets will also incorporate a SIM card reader to send MMS messages. This is the second mobile application the company makes available for fixed network customers after the introduction fof the Aladino, a fixed-line telephone to send SMS and MMS.

Telecom Italia will soon propose this service in France and Germany too.
