Better, faster Bluetooth

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is working on a new prototype specification named “Enhanced Data Rate” (EDR) to provide faster data transmissions - up to three times current levels - and lower power consumption. The new specification also allows improved facilities to use several functions or devices simultaneously, due to more bandwidth.
The EDR is expected to be ready in autumn 2004, and products based upon it in 2005.
