And now, anti-wifi wallpaper

UK defence contractor BAE Systems has developed a wallpaper that prevents outsiders from sneaking in on companies' Wi-Fi traffic but let other radio and mobile phone traffic get through.

The FSS (Frequency Selective Surface) panels are made like printed circuit boards - layers of copper on Kapton polymer - and used on stealth bombers and fighter jets. They can be either passive, which is permanent, or active, where various areas can be switched on and off to broaden or reduce the area of the network.

The panels can be applied to most surfaces including glass. The company claims that they also helped reduce "noise" in buildings where various companies have their own separate LANs.

No timescale for its commercial availability yet.
