Simon Claessen mashed up an old Ericsson T65 phone (a bulky landline phone, not the SonyEricsson) with a mobile phone to create a wireless device. Inside, a used Sagem GSM-phone is hooked up with the classic's parts (keypad, bell) and only very few extra electronics are needed to merge the two into a working phone. A version with a dial is coming up soon.

Sparkfun sells the Port-O-Rotary, a phone very similar to the one pictured above, but with a beatiful rotary dial for about 500:

the sparkfun thing has been around for some time but it's actually using a GSM module while simon hacked the real things ;)

and, for the sake of completeness, we can't forget Hulger here

Matt

Well i came in here to mention that sparkfun had done this some time ago...looks like i need not have bothered :P

I've seen Simon several times on the street talking into the old-fashioned thing. It always brings out a smile in people :-)
