dead-in-iraq
|
Joseph DeLappe has developed dead-in-iraq as an online gaming performance/protest.
The artist entered the online US Army recruiting game, America's Army, using "dead-in-iraq" as a login name. He does not particate in the proscribed mayhem, but stands in position and types until he gets killed. DeLappe intends to keep typing names until the end of this war. As of today there have been 2400 American service persons killed in Iraq. Related: Can video games prepares soldiers to real war?, First Person Paradoxes: The Logic of War in Computer Games. |

Excellent idea - one can fancy like other play participants are confronted unsuspectingly with the names of real victims. Already the existence of such a play is an unthing. I would be for more civil-bold - "Spam". Bravo DeLappe!
