Interactive Walkways
|
The Interactive Walkways is one of Electroland's awesome projects. Cameron McNall and Damon Seeley envisioned two glass pedestrian bridges with a field of LED lights embedded in resilient walking surfaces. Sensors detect the presence of passersby and the system triggers interactive light patterns on the floor. Spatialized sound effects enhance the presence of patterns in the active field.
Greyworld made something similar a few years ago. The Layer carpet allows people to create their own personal sound track.
Sensors beneath the carpet detect the direction, weight and speed of pedestrians and translate these data into a sound environment. Greyworld installed it in the Greenwich foot tunnel in July 1997. Since then, the Layer has been improved, allowing a wider range of inputs to be used, such as colour, shape, light and generative displays. |
