Hotspot Bloom by Karen Lee is a wearable artificial flower that sheds lights to indicate the availability of a wireless network. The colors are simulated through a tri-colored LED that is controlled by PIC chips monitoring the location for wireless nodes.

It is also an attempt to give recognition to open networks spread across New York.

The Hotspot Bloom is a beautiful idea. Is there any way I could buy one from you, or at least get more detailed information to 'grow' my own?

hieronymus

Ah, its not actually you -- perhaps I should seek out Karen instead.

regine

I'm not sure you can buy it right now, it rather looks like a thesis project, but Karen Lee will take part in Spectropolis (http://www.spectropolis.info/)in New York at the beginning of October. If you're lucky enough to be there, you'll get more details about it.

Great Idea. I would suggest submitting a utility patent, or at least a provisional patent on your idea. I think this is very marketable.

I encourage the designer to make something like this for sale to the general public. I think it's a good concept that might be fun to implement..
